We love to support the local arts here at Union, and as part of the Hinge Artist program though Springboard for the Arts, we are thrilled to be hosting a community "open-mic" night here at the U! Monday, December 21st, will be a chance for you to come and express your poems, stories, comedy, lyrics, etc., with our community. Come and share! Caitlin Scarano is a poet in the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee PhD creative writing program. She was a finalist for the 2014 Best of the Net Anthology and the winner of the 2015 I...ndiana Review Poetry Prize, judged by Eduardo Corral. She has two poetry chapbooks: The White Dog Year (dancing girl press, 2015) and The Salt and Shadow Coiled (Zoo Cake Press, 2015).
Maria Stabio is a first generation Filipino-American artist and curator. Her current work addresses feelings of loneliness and isolation through the use of comedic text combined with the painted image. She graduated with a BFA in Painting from Boston University and an MFA in Visual Arts from Columbia University. In 2012, she was a recipient of the Artist in Residence Fellowship at Virginia Commonwealth University in Qatar, serving as artist in residence and adjunct faculty for one academic year in Doha, Qatar. She is a co-founder of Trackside Studios and Torrance Shipman Gallery in Brooklyn, New York. She currently lives and works in New York. For more information, visit mariastabio.com.
