Chase the Flying Hours Screening

Please join us for the Fergus Falls premiere of "Chase the Flying Hours" a dance film created in collaboration with New York City based dance-theatre company, Current Harbor, Battle Lake's DanceBARN Collective, regional videographer, Kristofor Gieske, and 32 community dancers.

Synopsis:
Chase the Flying Hours was inspired by the spirit of the Fergus Falls community rallying around the pending demolition of The Kirkbride Hospital, a decommissioned occupational therapy center built in the 1800s. The film communicates the shifting role of this astonishing physical building within a tight-knit community, and the unique power of dance to bring people out of isolation, into moments of collective celebration. Inspired by midwestern square dancing, choreographer Annalisa Ledson blends traditional with contemporary dance. Director Jamie Watkins and cinematographer/editor Kristofor Gieske strive to capture the haunting beauty of this unique space and its renewed potential for community use.

This film was created over 4 days during Current Harbor's residency with DanceBARN Collective in April 2018 and supported by a micro grant from the Otter Tail County Historical Society in celebration of the 150th anniversary
of Otter Tail County.

A short artist talk with DanceBARN Collective will take place during the event as well as the screening of 3 other short dance films created in Otter Tail County!

Light refreshments will be provided.
